| July 14: Glass Insulators - 7:00pm
Dunham Library, Whitesboro
| For the July meeting, members Ron Weir and Todd Zinkovitch will present a program on Insulators. Glass Insulators, a popular sideline to bottle collecting are sometimes called the glass jewels of the wire. Insulators were made in many different colors including aqua, green, clear, yellow and amethyst and many were embossed with company names and dates. Insulators for telegraph wires date back to the 1840's and some of the first were made at the Mt Pleasant Glass Works near Saratoga Springs, NY. Also, for those who study local history, know that the invention of the telegraph has a strong connection to Utica. This will be an interesting program, don't miss it. |

Annual Bottle Show a Great Success |
As usual we had great exhibits at our bottle show. It is incredible, that our members and friends can display such quality exhibits year after year. Exhibits are a large part of what makes a bottle show enjoyable. Dan & Amelia Weeden's display “Diving for Bottles” won the Best of Show award and Tom Andriach's display, “Ink Bottles Through Time” won the Most Educational award. We hope you enjoy the photos. |
